The guitar neck is supported 200mm above the bench top at a comfortable working height, ensuring optimal accessibility. The narrow base of the stand will free up space on the workbench for safe organising of tools and materials close to the guitar. Additionally, the elevated guitar supporting surfaces are less susceptible to harbouring sharp fragments and contaminants than a mat or soft bench, making your workspace cleaner and safer.

WORKSTAND SUB-FRAME
The workstand sub-frame comprises of a solid oak base with round aluminium support pads at each end. The pads have a ribbed underside for stability and are secured to the base with quick change connections. The sub-frame has two sturdy aluminium posts connected by an aluminium mounting plate that supports the neck caul.

FIXED HEIGHT NECK CAUL
Rather than rocking the guitar neck to find its own rest position with the resultant setup having varying stability, the design is based around a fixed height neck caul with adjustment of the guitar body height to suit. This provides consistent support of the guitar neck for acoustic and electric instruments.

The caul is 250mm (10") long, made from hardwood and covered with soft cork. The caul features a ‘C shape profile for locating the guitar neck. The shallow profile centralises the neck whilst maintaining good access at the sides of the fretboard and fret ends.
 
The underside of the caul is bolted to the aluminium plate that connects the supporting posts to the sub-frame. The setup is robust providing stability for all fretting jobs including sanding, levelling & crowning.
 
For tasks where a large amount of dust is produced a sheet of A4 paper placed between the neck and caul will catch much of the debri.

OPTION #1 – BASIC/ACOUSTIC GUITAR WORKSTAND
The basic guitar workstand comprises of the sub-frame with neck caul and includes the universal guitar body support attachment.

UNIVERSAL GUITAR BODY SUPPORT
The universal guitar body support is made from marine ply and covered with firm neoprene foam. The support features a shallow concave shape for the guitar back to rest onto. Fine adjustment of height is made by rotating the support pad on the central screw to bring the guitar neck horizontal along the caul. Guitar body sizes from dreadnought through to slim solid bodies are accommodated by utilising the oak spacing block and inserting this underneath the screw block assembly when required.

The universal support is suitable for most guitars. For optimum stiffness underneath solid body guitars, options #2 or #3 provide an alternative solution.

OPTION #2 – SOLID BODY GUITAR WORKSTAND
The solid body guitar workstand comprises of the sub-frame with neck caul and the solid body guitar support attachment. This option is not suitable for acoustic guitars.

It is recommended for solid body guitars where optimum support is required directly underneath the heel/neck join or when used in conjunction with a press. It should also be considered for guitars with prominent neck angles since the system employs an angular adjustment feature.

SOLID BODY GUITAR SUPPORT
The body support features a rectangular marine ply board with a hard neoprene foam covering. The underside of the board has a solid aluminium backing plate. The supporting structure comprises of precision manufactured stainless steel and aluminium sub-components.

Both height and angle of the body support are adjustable via independent screw jacks. Adjustment is made by turning each screw until the body angle is found and the neck is seated along the caul. In addition to the screw jacks providing support underneath the guitar platform, the unit is further steadied and locked firmly in position via clamp knobs on each post.

The solid body guitar support can be mounted on the workstand base in either direction. The platform is offset and this alters the proximity of the support board relative to the neck caul depending on its orientation. The platform should be positioned close to the caul when maximum support under the heel is required.  

OPTION #3 – MODULAR GUITAR WORKSTAND
The modular guitar workstand incorporates both universal and solid body guitar supports. The guitar supports are interchangeable on the sub-frame.
