Our purpose designed Fret Puller offers an alternative solution when replacing guitar frets and is beneficial when a grip from traditional fret pulling pliers is difficult to obtain.

Fret pulling is affected by many variables including the fret size, tightness of fit in the fret slot, the tool being used, manual technique and dexterity. The tool addresses these through its ergonomic design and methodical approach.

The design features specially shaped tips which bite underneath the end of the fret. Care is required when initially locating the fret ends and the fret tool body has cut outs at the tips which allow for close inspection.

By using leverage via the fret puller tool body acting on the fret guard, the fret end can be gradually eased from the guitar fretboard. As the fret begins to lift away, the tool is drawn back along the fret using a rocking action until it is completely removed.

Soft frets will curl and be enclosed within the tool as per photo. Hard frets will remain straighter as they are lifted out.

Contents:

  • Fret Puller
  • Fret Guard

The fret puller tips are manufactured from ground knife steel. The tips can be dressed with a diamond file. Spare Tool Tips are also available.

NOTE

As with all fret pulling methods, some splitting of the wood as the frets are removed is unavoidable and small cosmetic repairs to the fretboard may be necessary. It is recommended to work on the underside or unseen edge as played to ensure repairs are discreet. The tool is not recommended for bound fretboards.
