GUITAR FRET GUARDS - Provides fretboard protection when crowning or polishing
The guards are designed for protecting the fretboard when crowning or polishing the frets. Two guards are included, one wide and one narrow.
The guards are flexible and adapt to the radius of the fretboard by using the elastic band. They are made of stainless steel - as opposed to spring steel which requires permanent downward pressure - so can be semi-permanently formed to the fretboard radius and used without the band if preferred. This is advantageous where the neck joins the guitar and the band cannot be used but beneficial when still using the band as any tendency to lift upwards is removed. The small degree of manual forming to a respective radius would not damage the guards.
The material is 0.5mm thick stainless steel, slightly thicker than comparable products. This does not impinge on filing depth as the file corner can access the slot clearance if needed and the thicker material effectively reduces the possibility of board damage in this event.
An additional feature are the double notches at each side which allow for neatly attaching the elastic band and keeping this clear of the filing tool movement.
All edges are dressed and surfaces smoothly finished.
